The Child Advocacy Center is an organization in Tennessee that works with the Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office in the fight against child abuse. During the holidays, the Child Advocacy Center hosts a Secret Santa program. Individuals who sign up can adopt a family to provide gifts to for the festive season. Random Acts Multimedia Manager Iliana Habib worked with the Center before as a Secret Santa. This year, she was able to adopt a much larger family of six.
About the Center
The Center offers an array of services to aid in the investigation and mitigation of these cases. They conduct forensic interviews with victims, assist families through the investigation process, and have a multitude of groups to help children and families heal from the trauma. In addition to all their assistance programs, they also have an education initiative called Darkness to Light. This program has taught more than 12,000 adults a five-step process to protecting children from sexual abuse. The support provided by the Center continues to offer hope to healing families.
Gifts for the Family
Thanks to our wonderful donors, Iliana purchased not just the requested items but some fun and necessary accessories to go with them. After an abundance of gift wrapping help from her mom, she delivered all the gifts to The Child Advocacy Center. “I was drawn to an act like this because so often when we are looking to help people in need, we focus on the ‘need’ and not much else,” Iliana said. “Sometimes what folks need most when going through hardship is a bit of joy and normalcy.”
