Many families celebrate the holidays by having family photographs taken. But what about families experiencing homelessness or other difficult circumstances? For this installment of #RAHolidayKindness, Random Acts Regional Representative Holly Olsen takes on this challenge by providing much-needed supplies for a photographer in Minnesota and her clients.
Family Photographs for the Holidays
During times of hardship, doing things with your family that establish a sense of normalcy is so important. That is why Chandra, a photographer in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, is committed to giving free holiday photographs to families in need. Chandra goes where the greatest need is, taking photographs in shelters, libraries, and even a NICU unit!
Using funds generously provided by our awesome donors, Holly was able to purchase several items from Chandra’s wish list, including backdrops and baby posing props. Holly was inspired by Chandra’s dedication to helping families who are facing tough times. “Having family photos to put up, and to send to family, is a great way to help these families connect with their homes and the world around,” Holly explains. When Chandra saw how many wish list items Holly purchased, she was overwhelmed with appreciation. “I love blessing others, but when someone turns around and blesses me, it catches me off guard!” Chandra said.
If you would like to support Chandra’s efforts, please consider making a donation on her website or purchasing items from her wish list!
