It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Random Acts is celebrating in style! This holiday season, each staff member had $150 to put towards an #RAHolidayKindness act of their choice. Although we encourage spreading kindness all year long, the holiday season is an extra special time to focus on sharing our love, time, and resources with others. We had so much fun making holiday magic happen. It only makes sense to spread the cheer with a blog series telling you all about our staff holiday acts! Let’s see what the Random Acts elves have been up to…
Kitchen Kindness
Events Assistant Coordinator Bev Burrows-Pym chose to focus her holiday kindness on a local family who lost the upper floor of their house in Cyclone Debbie two years ago. The family has spent the last two years living with relatives, and was just given the all-clear to move back into their old home on December 1st. Returning home for the holidays was exciting for the family, but there are still many challenges ahead as most of their belongings were lost or damaged.
Since food plays such a big role in holiday celebrations, Bev wanted to make sure that the family could enjoy using their kitchen over the holidays. She bought them a new kettle, toaster, and sandwich maker, as well as groceries. The family loved their gifts, and Bev loved seeing the family back in their own home with a kitchen they can use.
Welcome home, Bev’s friends! We wish you a happy holiday season and a joyful New Year.
Want to take part in some holiday magic of your own? We encourage everyone to do what they can for others during this special time of year. Stay tuned over the next week and a half — we can’t wait to share more #RAHolidayKindness with you!
