It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Random Acts is celebrating in style! This holiday season, each staff member had $150 to put towards an #RAHolidayKindness act of their choice. Although we encourage spreading kindness all year long, the holiday season is an extra special time to focus on sharing our love, time, and resources with others. We had so much fun making holiday magic happen. It only makes sense to spread the cheer with a blog series telling you all about our staff holiday acts! Let’s see what the Random Acts elves have been up to…
Three of our Random Acts staff members decided to help out this holiday season by providing some much-needed items to members of their communities.
Many kids and young adults in foster care keep their belongings in plastic garbage bags when they travel from home to home, rather than in a suitcase or duffel bag. Together We Rise, a national nonprofit, works to better the lives of those in foster care, and one way they do this is by providing “sweet cases,” duffel bags decorated by community members with goodies inside. Regional Representative for the US – Great Lakes Lindsey Fendt got a group together to decorate ten sweet cases for foster kids in her community. They were delivered shortly after Christmas to a local foster agency. Lindsey was happy to help ten adolescents ring in the new year.
Across the pond, Regional Representatives for UK – South and ROI Jade Wardle and Sarah Burnhope spread some #RAHolidayKindness and bundled up many winter necessities for people in their community experiencing homelessness. They made ten total bundles, each contained a hat, gloves, a pair of socks, hand warmers, deodorant, hand sanitizer, lip balms, a puzzle book, and some pens. In addition, five of the ten also included sanitary products. Jade and Sarah partnered with Hope for Food, a nonprofit located in the UK, that distributed the packages once Jade and Sarah dropped them off. These are sure to make the cold winter nights more endurable and bring some love to those in need.
