Great news, Supernatural lovers! The next big convention is right around the corner, and Random Acts will be there too. We’re packing our bags and heading to Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural Official Convention for the Washington, DC area (#SPNDC).
From Friday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 12, staffer Maria will be in attendance in the vendors room of the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel in Arlington, VA. As ever, we’ve teamed up with a fantastic local nonprofit to #GetKind, and this time we’ll be collecting much-needed items to donate to Food & Friends.
What Is Food & Friends?
Founded in 1988, Food & Friends “is built on a simple premise: anyone can get sick and everyone can help”. Its team of professional chefs and dietitians work with thousands of volunteers “to improve the lives and health of people with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses [by] preparing and delivering specialized meals and groceries” across the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
The group writes on its official website, “We believe that everyone managing a critical illness should have the nourishment they need to improve their health and enhance their quality of life.” Food & Friends focuses on “nourishing both the body and the mind,” so the team also provides nutritional information and wellness education, while its deliveries are made by “caring community members who also help end the sense of social isolation that can result from a critical illness.”
How Can I Help?
Throughout the #SPNDC weekend, we’ll be collecting donations of the following items, as requested by Food & Friends:

All items can be dropped at the Random Acts table in the vendors room at any time during the convention weekend. Please bear in mind that Food & Friends can’t accept items that have passed their expiration date or items that are dented/damaged.
What If I Can’t Bring A Donation Or Can’t Make It To #SPNDC?
That’s not a problem! If you can’t attend the convention in person or can’t squeeze any extra items into your suitcase, you can still #GetKind in honor of Food & Friends. You could send items with a friend, make an online donation via the Food & Friends website or look for a similar nonprofit to support in your local area. Whether it’s by hosting your own donation drive or giving up your time to volunteer, we’d love to hear how you make a difference to your community. Remember to share your stories on social media with the hashtags #GetKind and #SPNDC!
Will I Get To Meet Misha?
Our co-founder is always very busy, so unfortunately he won’t be available for any autographs, photos or meet and greets outside of his allotted convention schedule. You can check Creation’s website and social media pages for more information and ticket sales. We also ask that supporters direct any gifts or messages for Misha through the proper channels rather than leaving them at the Random Acts table, since our space there is quite limited.
Follow our staffers on Twitter (@RAFundraiser) for all the latest updates over the #SPNDC weekend—and be sure to follow the main Random Acts social media channels as well.
We’ll see you there!
