Dearest Supernatural fans: the Random Acts team is headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for Creation Entertainment’s Official Supernatural Convention (#SPNPitt) from Friday, Sept. 8 through Sunday, Sept. 10, and we’re hoping you’ll meet us there!
As per RA tradition, we’re loading up our suitcases, setting up shop in the SPNPitt vendors room, and partnering up with a wonderful local organization to do a little good in that corner of the world—the more supporters willing to help us #GetKind, the better.
Who we’re partnering with at SPNPitt
This time around, our team has partnered with Humane Animal Rescue, one of Pennsylvania’s largest animal welfare associations. Founded separately as the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society (1874) and the Animal Rescue League (1909), the two groups merged in 2017 and now provide “enhanced services to domestic and wild animals alike” according to the organization’s website.
The group explains, “We strive to provide all aspects of care to abandoned, neglected, and injured animals; reunite lost pets with their caregivers or seek new families for them; educate the community on humane care and interactions with all animals with the goal of reducing pet overpopulation and negative relationships with native wildlife; reinforce a standard of living for animals and prevent cruelty; and provide assistance and medical care to injured, orphaned, or ill native
Pennsylvania wildlife with a goal of returning them to their natural habitat.”
How you can help Humane Animal Rescue
Donate, donate, donate! Over SPNPitt weekend, Random Acts team members Cinde and Natalie will be on hand in the vendors room to collect the following items, as requested by the Humane Animal Rescue team:
What if I can’t donate?
We completely understand. Sometimes it’s just not in the budget, other times you simply don’t have the time to head out and buy supplies or fit them in your luggage. That’s okay! Make sure to stop by the Random Acts table anyway—we’ll have plenty of ways you can get involved, regardless. (And we’ll have lots of fun swag items to hand out as well!)
I won’t be at the convention. What can I do?
Get out and get kind anyway! We hope you’ll use this convention weekend to think about the animal welfare organizations in your own community and organize some sort of effort on their behalf. Set up a donation drive of your own or stop by and see how you can volunteer. Every little bit counts!
Will I be able to meet Misha at the convention?
Unfortunately, our co-founder is very busy and won’t be available for any photos, meet and greets, or autographs outside of his allotted convention schedule. If you’re looking for an autograph or photo, please make sure to check Creation’s social media pages and website for ticket sales and updates ahead of and during that weekend. We also ask that supporters direct any messages or gifts/items to the proper channels and not leave them at the Random Acts table, as space is rather limited.
Wherever you’ll be this weekend—at the convention or otherwise—we can’t wait to hear about all the ways you’re making the world a better place. Make sure to follow our main Twitter account, as well the @RADirector and @RAEventsTeam accounts as well, for regular updates on the donation drive, and to wave hello if you’ll be tracking the convention festivities from afar.
See you there!
