We are packing up our cowboy hats and boots and heading to Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural Convention in Dallas, Texas June 21-23. You will find some of our Random Acts staff in the vending room of #SPNDallas, including Events Coordinator Kristen Kress and Treasurer David Antonelli. We love visiting our friends in the Lone Star State, and we will be hosting a Kindness Carnival. What is that, you ask? You are going to have to come by the booth to find out!
Spreading Hope
This year, we will be partnering up with local non-profit Dallas Hope Charities. Their mission statement mirrors our own. “To mobilize and inspire a vibrant, inclusive and progressive volunteer force to bring positive tangible transformation to the lives of all who are marginalized”. To that end, they are involved with all sorts of different ways to help. Their priority is connecting to and feeding the hungry by serving hot meals and passing out bagged lunches. Every month they put together blessing bags for those experiencing homelessness in their community. Soon, they hope to expand the Dallas Hope Center, which will provide shelter and services for LGBT+ young adults in the North Texas area.
To help them with their mission, we will be collecting items for their food pantry and for their blessings bags. Below is a list of what they need the most. You can help by bringing any of the following to our booth:
- Fruit cups
- Dried fruit
- Peanut butter
- Cheese or peanut butter crackers
- Saltine/snack crackers
- Breakfast bars
- Protein bars
- Instant oatmeal packets
- Cup-a-noodles, Ramen, or mac-n-cheese cups
- Canned meat (Turkey, chicken, tuna)
