Today we are back with a short update from the Free High School in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. With your support, we built a beautiful, sustainable, and highly functional campus. Together, we gifted a home for an existing institute that provides the highest quality secondary education and a government-certified diploma to under-served adolescents and adults, from rural and urban areas. The regular high schools often excluded them.
We opened the second building during our final volunteer trip in 2018 to the Free High School campus in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. And this opened up the whole campus to a group of dedicated teachers and students. It was a joyous experience, and I cannot figure out who of us was more excited!
More than Style
In this second building of the campus, the FHS just recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of the first opening of the Technical Institute in 2006. It is so amazing to see how this building can open into a great hall for celebrations. This second building has many special features. It is designed to be multifunctional: during classes, it can be separated into three classrooms through movable walls with functional furniture. When needed as an auditorium, this functional furniture can be easily folded and stored to save space by opening the walls and uniting the three classrooms into one large hall with a full sound system. Because of this, it will be possible in the future to rent the auditorium for events. This will help the FHS to become increasingly financially independent.
This exciting update from Nicaragua is wonderful news. This sustainable campus we all build together is not only a home for the passionate students and teachers but a win for the whole community of San Juan del Sur. And it is all possible thanks to you, our wonderful supporters. We are so grateful for you! Thank you for continuing to support us and the Free High School. We thank you!
