In November, Random Acts encouraged all of our supporters to take part in our annual Endure4Kindness (E4K) event and, as always, you blew us away with your creativity and kindness. Money raised during Endure4Kindness allows us to sponsor acts of kindness all around the world. This year, funds from E4K are also going towards fighting childhood hunger. Whether you challenged yourself with your own E4K activity, spread the word on social media, supported others with their E4K fundraising, or donated to The Bad Idea Tour, your participation is helping to make the world a better place. We love being able to share some of the ways that your hard work is helping to fight food insecurity.

Serving Summer Lunches
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank serves over 300,000 people each month. Children make up around one quarter of those 300,000 people. On their website, the LA Food Bank explains exactly how important summer meals are for the people that they serve. Summer can be a stressful time for school-aged children (and their parents), since they are no longer receiving free breakfasts and lunches at school. The LA Food Bank’s summer lunch program provides a free lunch to children in need every weekday throughout the summer. This fills the kids’ bellies and eases the parents’ minds. It also makes summer break much more fun for the kids, who can play, learn, and relax all summer long without worrying about whether they will be able to eat lunch or not.
(Half) A Ton of Food!
Act Proposal Officer Shawna connected with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to see how we could help with their summer meal program. They provided a list of their most wanted items, which Shawna used to guide her shopping. She purchased shelf-stable products like vanilla and chocolate meal replacement shakes, apple juice, canned tuna, and peanut butter. In total, 1,268 pounds of food was delivered directly to the food bank. That’s over half a ton of food! According to the LA Food Bank’s estimates, this donation will provide 1,057 meals to those in need.
We are so thankful for all of the work that the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank does to help those in L.A. County. Thank you to all of our supporters who made it possible for us to cross a few items off of the food bank’s most wanted list. Your donations make such a big difference in people’s lives.
