Calling all “Supernatural” fans! Random Acts is headed to Chicago, IL for Creation Entertainment’s latest Supernatural Official Convention. From Friday July 12th through Sunday July 15th, you’ll find our staffers Jennifer Willis-Rivera and Emma Beattie in attendance in the #ChiCon vendors’ room.
They’ll be organizing a whole host of fun-filled kindness activities to celebrate the final weekend of AMOK — our Annual Melee of Kindness. Not only this, they’ll also be helping you #GetKind for one of our favorite local non-profits, the Heartland Animal Shelter.
About the Heartland Animal Shelter
Serving the greater Chicago area, Heartland is a no-kill shelter dedicated to the “care, humane treatment, and adoption of lost, stray, and abandoned animals.” As its official website explains, the Heartland Animal Shelter aims to “find permanent, loving homes for homeless animals and promote responsible pet ownership through education, community outreach, and collaboration.” The shelter is currently home to dozens of dogs and cats, all hoping to find their forever home. In the meantime, you can help meet their ongoing needs by helping out with pet supplies.

What if I don’t have enough space in my suitcase?
Not a problem! If you can’t pack pet supplies for the trip to Chicago, you could consider bringing a gift card to donate instead. The Heartland Animal Shelter welcomes gift cards from PetSmart, Petco, Pet Supply Plus, Target, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Costco, OfficeMax, Lowes, The Container Store, and Menards. You could also consider making an online donation to Heartland, or volunteering your time at an animal shelter in your local area.
