The Punta Gorda-Port Charlotte-North Port Association of Realtors hosted a collection box for The Young Professionals Network’s Blessing Bags Drive. The drive asked for hygiene items, menstrual products, and juice boxes to benefit the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition. The Charlotte County Homeless Coalition’s mission is to alleviate and prevent hunger and homelessness. They have been serving Charlotte County, Florida since 1989. In the past year alone, they have served over 91,250 hot meals and snacks to those in need.
Overflowing Donations
Random Acts Regional Representative Emily Rivera-Jackson knew this would be a great way for her to help her community. Being a realtor herself, she also felt donating would encourage others in her workplace to get involved in charitable giving. Emily took a few trips to the store and, on each run, bought bundles of dental hygiene items, shower soaps, shampoo, conditioner, shaving items, menstrual products, and more. She then packed up her truck and drove over to the board of realtors’ drop-off location. With some help from staff, Emily unloaded all of her donations. She was happy to see the collection box already overflowing with donations from others! “It was very nice to see the front office full of items,” she said.
After completing her act, Emily reflected on how it felt to make an impact on her local community: “I am thankful that we could be part of a bigger project together,” she expressed. She is also “thankful to have Random Acts give so much back to the community.”
