As summer nears its end, many families around the world begin preparations for their children to go back to school. For some kids, this includes feet dragging about early mornings and homework. For others – especially those experiencing school for the first time – this can be a season of wonder and excitement over a grand new educational adventure! To help ensure local youngsters were equipped and ready to enjoy a fun and productive school year, long-time Random Acts supporter Jennifer Summit got busy collecting and distributing school supplies for families in need.
In the Bag
The Phillipsburg Early Childhood Learning Center in Phillipsburg, New Jersey provides full-day preschool and kindergarten classes for children in their community. To help prepare these young minds for the coming year, Jennifer put together drawstring backpacks filled to the brim with all manner of back to school goodies, including pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue sticks, scissors, and a paint set. She also added a lunch bag, hand sanitizer, and tissues to make it easier to keep students fed and healthy. With funding from Random Acts, a few dollars of her own, and some creative shopping, Jennifer filled and distributed 58 bags to local preschoolers and kindergartners. This act of kindness gave these kids the materials they needed to jump into learning with both feet!
