Random Acts, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting kindness and compassion around the world, is seeking a Finance Manager. The Finance Manager for Random Acts manages and disburses funds for financial operations for the organization, ensuring quality standards and all financial regulations are met. Reporting to the Director of Finance (DoF), and working as part of the Leadership Team, the Finance Manager collaborates with the Director in ensuring the organization’s funds are secure and well spent. The Finance Manager is responsible for the operational management of the Finance Team and this will include staff support and supervision. The role is expected to take approximately 5-10 hours per week, however outside of a small number of meetings these can be undertaken at a time suitable to the volunteer.
Responsibilities
- Maintain spreadsheets, databases, and records of financial transactions for the organization.
- Communicate with our bookkeepers monthly or as required escalating relevant information and reporting to the Executive Team.
- Ensure that all donors receive accurate receipts for their transactions, utilizing both manual and electronic methods.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial transaction records.
- Work with the DoF to develop quarterly Board Reports and Full Year End Reports for the Board and Annual Report.
- Provide payment to vendors, volunteers, and program/event recipients as necessary.
- Balance bank deposits when required.
- Perform transactions from Random Acts PayPal account.
- Contribute to the development and preparation of monthly and annual budgets.
- Monitor and track transactions relating to earmarked funding.
- Maintain regular communication with the Executive Team, promptly reporting any significant issues that pose a risk to the organization’s well-being.
- Collaborate with the DoF to ensure the annual Tax information is collected and submitted in a timely manner.
- Operational management of the Finance Team.
- Engage in scheduled leadership and team meetings on a regular basis.
- Other duties as requested by the Director.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience or certifications will also be considered.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant certification, or equivalent f inancial certification and experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-organized and detail oriented.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, QuickBooks Desktop and Online, and other financial software.
- Dedicated to timely delivery and meeting time-sensitive objectives.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in financial operations or related functions.
- Must have a working knowledge of the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
