Over the past few weeks, we at Random Acts have been given the generous opportunity to help make the holiday season brighter for those in need. We have seen opportunities to take the joys of the season — food, warmth, coziness — and share those joys with those who are struggling. For example, many people experiencing homelessness lack a very basic item: socks! Throughout this #RAHolidayKindness season, we have learned that socks are very much in need at shelters, as many people do not think to donate them. Luckily, this year our staffers were able to find some great organizations to work with in this regard. Our US South East Regional Representative Emily Rivera-Jackson connected with the Children’s Community Clothing Closet of North Port, Florida.
About the Children’s Closet
Sponsored by the Early Bird Kiwanis Club of North Port, this community closet has been serving North Port families since 1992. Children may come to the Community Closet and select five sets of clothing every three months at no cost to the family. When the Community Closet put out a call for socks and blankets, Emily jumped in to help. With funding from Random Acts, she was able to purchase a couple dozen blankets and socks to help keep kids warm this winter.
Thanks to You
As you read more of our holiday stories, please know how grateful we are for your ongoing support. We hope that you will be inspired to spread some kindness in your own community, even as together we spread kindness all over the world. We accept financial contributions all year long, and we are always looking for opportunities to help make a difference. You can donate to fund an act on our Donate page or request help for an act of your own on our Sponsored Acts page. Let’s keep changing the world together!
