It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Random Acts is celebrating in style! This holiday season, each staff member had $150 to put towards an #RAHolidayKindness act of their choice. Although we encourage spreading kindness all year long, the holiday season is an extra special time to focus on sharing our love, time, and resources with others. We had so much fun making holiday magic happen. It only makes sense to spread the cheer with a blog series telling you all about our staff holiday acts! Let’s see what the Random Acts elves have been up to…
This holiday season, Random Acts staff have been able to work with many excellent organizations across the world. Today we’ll focus on one national and two regional non-profits that are making a huge difference in the lives of people across the United States.
Hats for the Harbor
The Harbor is a transitional living facility in Michigan that helps children ages 9-17 who are at risk of or are currently experiencing homelessness. In addition to providing counseling, they also teach critical life skills such as cooking to these adolescents. This holiday season, they were in desperate need of hats and gloves, as well as hygiene items and socks for girls. Using Random Acts funds, Regional Representative Heather Fath-Azam was able provide these critical items for this great organization.
Groceries in San Diego
For her #RAHolidayKindness act, Regional Representative Kayla Covert reached out to the San Diego Salvation Army to see how she could help. Every year, they allow helpers to adopt families to help provide them with necessities for the holiday season. Kayla was able to purchase a few gift cards for groceries and clothes for a family!
Paying it Forward
The wintertime is especially difficult for people experiencing homelessness. In Kansas City, there are some heroes trying to help! Kansas City Heroes is an organization much like Random Acts – it provides acts of kindness for senior citizens, people with disabilities, and single parent homes. Their philosophy is, “Paying it forward, one neighbor at a time.” This holiday season, Regional Events Officer Natalie Miller was able to purchase many items off of their wish list, which included tents, tarps and clothing. We are so excited to support such a great organization!
